I worked with the singers at Ridgewood High School today (in Ridgewood, NJ) and had really great time. It’s always an honor to hear my music performed but it’s even more rewarding to have conversations with young musicians and hear what it is they think is important about music.

Steven Bourque has some really talented kids in his choir and I’m so glad that I get to be apart of their music-making this year. I’m looking forward to seeing them again in about a month! (Stay tuned for concert info…)

Premiere of Three Songs for Tenor

Last night was the premiere of “Three Songs for Tenor and Piano” and I think it was a great success. I can’t thank Joshua Wanger enough for the opportunity to write some new solo vocal music and for picking such compelling texts to set.
As soon as I have either a video or sound recording, I’ll post it up here.

I’m looking forward to working with Steven Bourque and his choirs at Ridgewood High School this coming Spring. Here is an article that discusses the grant process that Steven went through to help buy my music and pay my travel expenses to come and work with his ensemble.

I went to the Westminster Choir concert at the Quakertown High School last night in Quakertown, PA. It was such a wonderful program. It makes me proud to be an alum of Westminster Choir College and of the choir. It also makes me miss singing in that group. The experiences you share with the people in that group really are mountain-top experiences. I feel like I remember each individual performance from tour. My career as a composer really took off because of this choir and the exposure that it gave “I would live in your love”.

I hope each member of Westminster Choir knows how special what they do is. You really do change the lives of the people who hear you. Choral music is powerful and the Westminster Choir has the most powerful voice in all of America. Bravo to all involved and continue doing what you do!
